Enhydro Quartz Pendants by Maria Beaulieu

These one-of-a-kind Enhydro-Quartz pendants from Maria Beaulieu have just been added to our cases! Each stone has a water filled chamber within...utterly unique and completely captivating. These special pendants hang from Maria's handmade paperclip chains - aren't they simply breathtaking?!
Maria Beaulieu’s Rock Crystal Enhydro “Bubble” amulets have a soothing, grounding energy that will unite you with the power of each stone. You just have to hold one of these special “Bubble” pendants to feel the mesmerizing, meditative energy.
The word "enhydrous" has Greek origins meaning "having water within". Enydros often contain bubbles of air trapped in the pockets of water within the crystal, and so they are also sometimes called "water bubble quartz" which contains channels of water purified by hundreds of thousands of years of geological time, and intense heat and pressure. The "channels or voids" can contain extremely large air bubbles to teeny tiny bubbles along with black specks. By the logic of their formation, enhydrous water bubble quartz usually contains inclusions and can have really interesting matrix. Look deep inside and each stone has its own unique Zen landscape. No two are the same, depending on the stone you may see swirling clouds, rainbow inclusions and brilliant white inclusions within the quartz crystal. Go ahead and get lost!

MARIA BEAULIEU

Jeweler Maria Beaulieu has a keen eye for rock collecting. “For me, it’s all about the stones,” says the Maine native. “I find inspiration in everything from 123kt aquamarines to Argentinian agates to tumbled beach pebbles. I try to find the most exquisite specimens and then set them with just enough gold to highlight their natural beauty.”
Beaulieu has been making jewelry since she moved to New York in 1990. After working as a production assistant for Ted Muehling for 9 years, she started her own collection.

“I try to find the most exquisite specimens and then set them with just enough gold to highlight their natural beauty,” says Maria Beaulieu. In practice, this means a collection of breathtaking rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Brazilian amethysts, golden heliodor beryls, Burmese moonstones, dazzling spinels in shades from light peach to ruby reds and royal blues, pale pink morganites, and many other gemstones are presented in refined, minimal settings.
The combination of exquisite stone and refined settings adds up to a collection of breathtaking rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
“I strive for simplicity and elegance in my work,” says Beaulieu. “I want my work to complement the person wearing it. I like the idea of creating a piece of jewelry and letting it out into the world to become part of another’s life. Ultimately, I’d like to share the beauty of the gems I discover with other people.”

Happy Birthday March!

If you are born in the month of March,
You are one of the *LUCKY* ones
to have the amazing Aquamarine as your birthstone.

Rings L-R by Gabriella Kiss, Henrich + Denzel, Barbara Heinrich, Maria Beaulieu
If you can picture the cerulean blue waters of the Mediterranean,
you will understand why the birthstone for March is named Aquamarine. Derived from the Roman word "Aqua," meaning water, and "mare," meaning sea, this pale blue gem does indeed resemble the color of seawater. The ancient Romans believed that the Aquamarine was sacred to Neptune, the god of the sea, having fallen from the jewel boxes of sirens and washed onto shore. Early sailors wore aquamarine talismans, engraved with the likeness of Neptune, as protection against dangers at sea.

Above Jewelry by Barbara Heinrich
The Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family. Beryl is a mineral that crystallizes within large grained igneous rocks on the earth's crust. It varies in color from clear to vibrantly colored gemstones such as the Emerald. Beryl was used as far back as 2,000 years ago to correct vision, and it continues to be used today in the manufacture of eyeglasses. It is a very hard mineral, making the Aquamarine a durable gemstone for use in jewelry.
