MONIQUE PEAN
Monique
Pean is a socially responsible and eco-friendly fine jewelry artist from New
York. Since 2006, she has been a pioneer
in the jewelry industry, using a percentage of her jewelry sales to provide clean
drinking water and sanitation to over 5,000 people in developing communities.
Inspired
by indigenous cultures, she is as passionate about unique wearable art as she
is about the environment. This is
evident in that all of her work combines the use of sustainable materials
including, fossilized walrus, caribou and woolly mammoth ivory, conflict and
devastation free stones, and recycled gold.
All of her fossilized materials are obtained through naturally melting
glaciers, and all the buffalo horn has been naturally shed.
Monique’s
jewelry was selected for one of the most esteemed awards in the industry as one
of the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF) winners, and was runner up in the
Colored Gems Plus category at the 2010 Couture Design Awards. Monique has remained at the forefront of the
fashion world being featured as this year’s prominent designer at New York’s
Fashion Week.
